ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Ever wondered how SOPHIE, Arca, and Sevdaliza found their signature sounds? What are the gateways and paths towards a good mix, a distinctive track, and what tools can you use to unearth your own signature sound? In this workshop, we'll use Ableton and Max for Live techniques to explore the fundamentals of distinctive sound design. You'll learn ways to build your own sonic identity and discover practical approaches to crafting sounds that are uniquely yours, helping you stand out in today's music landscape.

☆ REQUIREMENTS: Participants should have Ableton Live Suite (which includes Max for Live) or Ableton Live with a separate Max for Live license.

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:
Ana Roman (Skulptor), is an independent workshop facilitator, teaching artist, generative arts creative consultant, and creative technologist. Roman's critical work has garnered them workshop performances and talks at MIT Media Lab, Berklee College of Music, NYU Clive Davis, and Berklee College of Music to name a few. Roman's ongoing research in Sonic Cyberfeminism and Algorithmic Bias exposes and explores the relationships between gender and tech, avatarization, queering AI, data rights, and the transformative impacts of AI on human identity. Additionally, they are DJ/Producer with recent appearances at Sonar Festival and Refraction Festival with features in DJ Magazine and Mix Mag.
