For young artists 13-19 years of age we offer FREE courses in professional digital art software taught by established teaching artists.

Sessions are 1.5 hours and meet once a week

Each 6 week session ends in a group exhibit of student work at

Powrplnt HQ 562 Evergreen Ave.

Digital Photography

Taught by a rotating crew of photographers, learn how to use DSLR cameras, lighting techniques, and basic photoshop to get started as a professional photographer.

 

Wednesdays 4-6PM

Zine Making

Learn the art of DIY Book publishing or ZINES. Get your ideas and work out utilizing lay out, scanning, photography, collaging and more.

 

Thursdays 4-6PM

Digital Music Making

Presented by Sonic Arts For All! Learn how to use synthesizers, iPads and other electronic instruments to make beats, soundscapes and songs. Upload your music right to soundcloud and share with the world.

BE YOUR OWN PRODUCTION TEAM

Tuesdays 1-4PM

Instructed by David Van Witt

Using Ableton Live, Premiere and the infinite internet you will write, record, mix, master, and release a single with its own music video and album cover. A four week crash course in how to have complete control of your own musical identity.


DIGITAL PAINTING

Instructed by Deanna Havas

A studio painting class with a focus on the digital, appropriation and critique. Culminating in a group show of the student’s work.


ALL THE WEB'S A STAGE

Instructed by Max C Lee

In teams, you will write and shoot a short video and learn how to publish effectively online.


3D DIGITAL SCULPTURE

Instructed by Rodan Tekle

Learn Z-Brush, a software extensively used in the film and gaming industry but can also be a fun art tool. Learn how to sculpt 3D characters using brushes. We will focus on character and creature models and attempt animation. 


TFW Bae Clicks: Coding Interactivity

Instructed by Martha Hipley

In this class, students will learn a code-bades approach to creating animations and interactions for the web. You will also learn basic programming skills that can be applied to any program language. 


ZINE DREAM MACHINE

Instructed by Lexi Brown

Zines are self-produced magazines. Using photography and found images, you will create a zine on a theme of your interest, ending in a final print of your images and ideas.


SONIC ENVIRONMENTS

Instructed by Matthew & Shaun (MFA)

Learn the basics of Ableton, Adobe Audition, and Audacity. Make your very own audio cables and build electronic installations using Arduino to create a Sonic Environment for your audio productions and sound designs.

Using stop-motion animation and experimental video, you will make an animation of plant life in the space. Led By Mitch Moore, art director and video artist.

An Intro to digital photo where you will use the most common tool, the cell-phone, and learn to enhance and manipulate with Adobe Photoshop.


BEATS LIKE DRAKE

Practice producing beats using Ableton Live, the most versatile music production workstation professionally used today. Led by Hunter Hawes, DJ and Producer .


Music Video Production
June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
 

Plan and execute a music video from start to finish. Begin working with professional video equipment and Premiere for video editing. Led by Matt Plassche, film director.


The Gift of Animated GIF's

Learn how to easily make dazzling and complex looping images in Photoshop. The session will also tackle how to display digital work. Led by Faith Holland.
